This page shows some of the
equipment that has been adopted for use by our canine teams.
DOG BOOTS
& ACCESSORIES
Dog boots are designed from fleece lined w/double layer ballistic nylon sole and double Velcro
straps to prevent the boot from coming off.
They are specifically designed to protect the dog’s feet from broken
glass concrete, masonry, protruding nails and other similar material or objects
that may cause injury whilst working on a collapsed structure environment.

HIGH VISIBILITY HARNESS
 |
High visibility Harness used as a trigger to inform the dog to start
searching. These are used for collapse structure
/ open area search work. Can also be used in
conjunction with a safety line if required when working near to exposed
edges at height.
A night stick can also be fitted to the top of the
harness to allow the handler to observe his dog at greater distances especially
in the hours of darkness on open area searches.

HIGH VISIBILITY JACKET
 |
The high visibility jacket is
used in the same way as the harness, as a trigger for the dog to start
searching. The jacket is only used for immediate area searches and a
night stick can also be attached, in the same way as the harness.

SAFETY LINE & EDGE PROTECTION HARNESS
 |
18 feet safety line, one end
has a safety loop incorporated in the line of 10mm (climbing rope) and the
other end has a screw gate Karabiner (crab) attached.
This specific piece of equipment is used
in conjunction with the working harness / safety, lift harness where the
handler may require additional safety measures and greater control over
their dog, but still allowing the dog the freedom to search.
An example when this equipment would be
used is working close to an exposed edge of a building at height.
Karabiners and climbing rope can be purchased
from any good outdoor pursuits shop. Edge protection harness can
be purchased from CanineSpirt.

NIGHT
STICKS
 |
Attached to the dogs harness /
jacket and used to laminate the dog whilst working at distance during
hours of darkness, or areas of low light. |
COLD WEATHER JACKETS
 |
Flectalon cold
weather jackets are made out of a breathable material and have the ability to
reflect the dogs body heat. The
jacket has a reflective property that can keep the dog warm even when wet. When working in wet and cold conditions these jackets should
be used immediately once the dog stops working to maintain the dogs body
temperature. |
TOWELLING DRY DOG BAG
 |
Designed to dry and clean your
dog after wet or muddy work. Place your dog in the open bag and once the
zip is closed to the neck the drying process begins. Heat from the dog's body
speeds up the process and any movement helps to clean off mud and dirt. |
SAFETY / LIFTING HARNESSES

Safety harnesses are
used in conjunction with safety lines to prevent a dog from having an
uncontrolled fall from height, when working near an exposed edge.
Lift
harnesses are used to safely lift / lower a dog into a position that would be inaccessible
by normal means.

ENTRAPMENT TRANSPONDER EQUIPMENT
|
This
equipment was originally designed to located trapped ferrets
underground.
The team have adapted this equipment to be
used for collapsed structure search work.
A transponder is fitted to each dog and
handler before commencement of the search.
In the event of an additional collapse
whilst the team are searching, this equipment will assist in pin pointing
the exact locate of these teams quickly. |

KENNEL MATTING
|
 |
Manufactured from Thermatex quilted fabric backed by a sandwich of 6oz
polyester and cotton or nylon. Ideal for baskets, chairs, floor coverings or
for the back seat of cars. Choice of 13 colours bindings/trim (See colour
chart). Sizes – Small (60 – 75cm), Medium (75 – 90cm), Large (90 – 110cm).
Can also be made to measure to fit cars etc.

VEHICLE KENNELS

A
range of fully universal sizes to fit most makes and models of cars
including hatchbacks, estates, 4WD drives and pickups. Optional extras
including non-slip rubber matting, partition dividers, top trays and
lockable gun drawers.
