 EFFEM FOODS THAILAND

Effem Foods Thailand sponsor the training of the first Search & Rescue Dog Teams in Thailand for the Royal Thai Military Dog Training Centre.  Members of UKFSSART (USAR) dog teams are currently working with Effem Foods Thailand in training these teams.

We would like to thank Siam City Cement  for their support in supplying training areas for the team at the worlds biggest cement processing plant.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

To train a team of seven dogs & handlers.

To pass on the relevant  knowledge and skills for these handlers / trainers to be able to train additional dogs in the future and to be able to work as a team effectively in any disaster situation.

Technically assist in the implementation of a puppy training programme, and the continuation of SAR dog training courses.  

UPDATE ON PROJECT

Latest News, the team have 5 operational dogs teams that have passed grading from the 05/07/03

Sadly through illness the team have lost 2 graded dogs.

2 further dogs have been graded, total of 5 operational dogs.

A further 14 puppies will be selected and trained by the team in 2004.  3 of the handlers in the team have now been selected to be trained in delivering handler course's with these dogs in 2005.

Team members have been visiting regularly during 2004 in supporting the training of these teams.

Team deploy to Southern Thailand to support in rescue effort after Tsunami disaster, 28/12/04.

Team visit to support existing team and assist in the selection of dogs from the puppy training programme / handlers for next SAR dog course. 20/02/05.

Team visit to continue training programme 07/12/05.

Next team visit, scheduled for early 2006.

This programme has now come to a successful conclusion.
